Sampson 17 years april 27 2009 king of the ocean

with deep sadness i write this, our dear Sampson left us yesterday.  it is hard to imagine a golden lasting for 17 years.  it was an amazing run, and he gave it his best everyday.   there were magnificent ocean swims, he was the marvel of huntington beach, there was no dog that could out swim him, no wave he could not ride, and he tried relentlessly to save surfers every swim.  he loved his family of pets, and watched over them tirelessly, even killing a possum that attacked his beloved buzz our cat.  he watched over our home, and loved his 2 masters, ashley his first, who walked and ran with him everyday when she was a young girl, he was her first love, her first dog.   and his second master, jim my husband he loved him more than i can imagine, who never tired of taking him to the beach and throwing balls into the ocean for hours, they were inseparable.   Sampson touched many people, and will be missed.  he left us with incredible grace, and i shall always hold that in my heart, what a regal animal god gave us.     bye sammy.....you will always be in our hearts 

heart rocks from leo carrillo beach

camping this year brought the motherload of heart rocks....this is only part of the 20 lbs of heart rocks we found. just after i snapped this picture a wave came and washed all the rocks around....i lost the green sea glass that was a prefect little heart....terri found it, and i lost it. i search the seasand for 45 minutes....i lost my heart.

yvonne made this lovely book covering while we were camping. we were inspired by nina's gathering class we took a troupe of friends to the seashore and found treasures, to make our special thoughts captured in the little window frame

christina comes to catalina

surprise visit to california, christina flew into california from new york to visit her collage friend lauren, and they decide to join us in catalina for my trunk show at cc gallaghers. it was suppose to rain be we lucked out with blue skys, but christina did bring the cold air from nyc. after christina managed to hold off seasickness, i managed to slip down the plank while getting off the boat...but we made it....

no matter what time of year i come to Catalina, this turquoise pier in Avalon is my favorite pier, could it be, my house is painted the same color?

valentine booklets

this post begins at the end...the end of the most glorious valentine party i have ever attended, hosted by carol parks. carol you did not leave out 1 detail, from treasures boxes, games, and wonderful discussion with 12 amazing artists, from one artist who was opening a new high school in south central, to a movie producer volunteering in her off time with altzimers patients, and homeless food kitchens, to moms raising their children, and grandchildren, all gathered as like souls, mixed media artists, with a new found place to create, teach and share our ideas.

lisa helped make a wonderful board with our baby pictures.....we had to guess who everyone was...i had a very difficult time, but there were many people that guessed about 9 of the 12 . carol had made a special packet with 12 of our photos that we made into a tiny little picture book....we then passed around to everyone and got our ctc, emails

valentine ladder

there was snow on the table, hearts, cards, and our boxes, each made with love by carol.....we were greeted at the front door by a balloon maker, he personalized a custom balloon for all of us (i had a little green frog that sat on my wrist, and went home with a valentine wand) after drinks, snacks, we opened our special boxes...

treasures we found with our name on them.

carol had a box she created covered with fabric, with an old vintage handle and ribbon to tie our box like a suitcase....inside this treasure box, were things that made a jaws drop....last nite i was ging thru the wonderful box and found endless treasures....my box contained an old book about heide....a little german girl in austria.....(could that me ...born in austria, who came to the usa when i was 3 years old) special papers, and old photos, my favorite, you can see in the picture, is the photo of ballerinas... i'm doing a trunk show in catalina and plan to use these papers to display my jewelry.... thank you carol for thinking of the most special of details...

sunday i was invited to a special valentine event by carol parks.....i had no idea what i was in for, as this was my first invitation, and i am nursing a sore jaw holding it open in amazement....this is carol, joyous at her event. there was not 1 detail she left out, from catering wonderful food, drinks, the best cupcakes i ever had, to amazing other surprises....to be continued....thank you carol

valentine tree, have you seen the likes?

besides the main table with the cherry blossom tree, this little vignette was my favorite....it glowed a golden color, and the red embellishments made this tree glow.

sharing valentines

we all had boxes assembled on carols couch, and the fun began....we passed out our treasures to our new and old friends. this is the place my dollies found new homes. i felt like i was a little girl in grade school, waiting for receive treasures from all my best friends.

pregnant molds.....

gestation is only 9 hours, not 9 months, and birth is painless, they just pop out of the molds.....very very fun. they are going to a special project with carol parks at her art studio this sunday, a valentine salon.

my dollies look good for their first casting.... thank you susan lenart kazmer... she has that wonderful new product called resin ice. non-toxic resin.... endless possibilities.

after all the dollies were delivered, they are now ready for the new home on the front of these little books that will be shared at carol parks valentine salon with other friends, who will be making valentines for the lonely hearted.

last fall i had the most wonderful class with Susan lenart Kazmer in Seattle. one the mediums we touched upon was making molds for pouring resin. in a short day we made wonderful little toys. and i just happen to be going to carol parks valentine party on Sunday, and we will be exchanging valentines.....i just may be brewing up little Dollys.......................tonite i made molds, and poured the first batch of resin.... i can't wait for the morning to check how the molds worked.

dear friend back home again

my dear friend left 2 years ago to move to Seattle.....we dearly missed her..... she had an amazing house in Seattle, but being a California girl of the sun.....this winter proved challenging with all the snow....and lucky us, she moved back with Kong the pug....and Joe the cat. We will soon be having some great art parties. Kong is checking the morning forecast in California, he is planning a day of sunning that black fur.... Kong master we love you.

2009 hello

i am a little slow starting the year .... thanks to diane of dianesmixedart, she has helped me update my blog, taught me many new things, which has given me new inspiration to continue my blog....technology has tangled me up with wires, cameras, that make daunting sometimes to even think of posting.... but thanks to the new changes i hope to be more present .

snowmen seeds

cloth paper scissors magazine caught my eye this month....the cover adorned some amazing snowmen, made by sue pelletier, she gave wonderful instructions, and the inspiration was born. every christmas i gather my wonderful girlfriends, and some choice relatives and have a christmas craft party. i ran to cub broads and gathered every little ditty i could find, i gathered old pearls, wings, snow, glitter, crowns, ......i found their creators and the magic you will see....merry christmas to all....

the king is quite noble....his crown....eyes made of watch parts, a nose made of a pearl.....the baby is such a baby, so so cute, and the large standing angel is la la joy.....designer shirt "J O Y".....do you see the soft lips of pearl? and the halo was adorned with gold hair you can't see. a fancy family you would agree.....

marva's minnie

marva our resident comedian, singer, teacher, who always is fretting about her project made this magical snow person with wonderful insides. i loved the intestines.....candy canes sitting just so, pearls, and little colored beads....her candy cane nose, and oh those eyes......there were many screams as we created these little snow people, as marva said, if only our husbands knew what little things delighted us so.......later that night my son connor, asked why were screaming while we were crafting, he asked if we were all crazy....and i said yes we are.....crazy with joy ... p.s. marva named her "minnie"

donnas snow peeps

donna is the ebay queen that found these amazing bottles, that made our bodies for the snowpeople. she donated them for this christmas crafting party and we all thank her dearly, as they are magical. her large snowlady bottle actually had the cap....she of course turned that into the tin hat with a large rhinestone. the man on the right was chewing on a candy cane, and had quite a crown hat on. momma snowlady, had her designer t-shirt (fa-la-la), a one of a kind, and baby had many cute things on that designer necklace.

irene made an enchanting fancy snowlady.... there were all her favorite colors (turquoise),some very fancy old pure heart pearls, even an old palm tree stamp to adorn her neck....her hat was topped off with italian murano glass, she has lovely happy smile and is ready for many christmas festivities...and do you see her designer t-shirt, J O Y?

magic was made from an old bubble bath bottle, the bear on the left.....the eyes are Lamar, the lips shaped of wire head pins, and lip gloss adorns the cheeks the ears are pearls..... the kitty, oh my goodness....those eyes, the wire whiskers, and the pink lips.....old vintage ribbon from artfest makes their lovely scarves......... all my made by my favorite cousin
